I have recently decided to have a clear-out of my wardrobe. I swear I can hear the poor thing moaning every time I open the doors. It must dread a change in season because it normally means me piling new clothes in and not taking any out.

Have you ever streamlined your clothing collection? If you have, then you know what a therapeutic experience it has been! Although I still desperately need a new wardrobe due to its ill health, I have curated my clothes into a collection that is not only truly expressive of the woman I am today but I can now see where my styling/ fashion gaps are.
Yes, I had to make some tough choices of what to keep/ throw/ give away but I also made same wonderful discoveries hiding in the darkest, deepest corners of my closet. You might think my wardrobe is like the one from Narnia, the deeper you go the further away from reality you become! No, nothing like that, just ram, jammed to the brink of chaos!
My commitment to my clothing cleanse was such that I didn’t reappear from my bedroom until roughly 3 hours later! They say with perseverance comes great reward, and whoever ‘they’ are were right. To my delight one of my treasure finds was a pair of brushed silver, metallic platform heels that I wore once about 13 years ago!
If you are an avid follower of fashion like myself and Team Cicily, you’ll know all about the current metallic trend for A/W 2016 – 2017. So feeling rather smug and channeling the new trend via my heels I went on a shopping spree to the high street.
Of course, my expression of the ‘Metallic Trend’ has only stretched to a black metallic T-shirt, a gold zip-back top and a choker (which all look awesome with my ‘new’ shoe find!) as I know my cutting-edge-fashion limits very well! But as I was wandering around my favourite stores it struck me how the catwalk fashion trends filter into nearly every part of our lives. From obvious areas like our daily work-wear to what phone covers we buy and what we buy for our interiors.
Bridal & Metallics
Obviously, as co-owner of Cicily Bridal, the wedding world takes up half of my brain capacity (on a good day!) so my thoughts went to how this trend has been captured by our talented wedding industry creatives and made available to our modern brides.
The metallic trend can be luxe and audacious or muted and gentle. A metallic thread woven into the textured detail of a wedding dress or simply by adding a rose gold belt are both reflective of this fashion. A great way to really embrace wedding metallics is with wedding shoes, whether it is for the bride or her bridesmaids. A bride might be a little braver by choosing a more bold look from the metallic spectrum.
I love the idea of bridesmaids wearing one of the stunning metallic midi-pleated skirts that are all over our high street. Teamed with a simple camisole or bardot top and gorgeous heels it can be a beautifully modern look.
Invites with gold leaf detail, cakes painted with silver and table settings rich with copper can all reflect the opulence and luxury of metals. Copper lanterns for a rustic out-door wedding or full-on shine from sequin chair covers!
This trend allows a bride to wave the glitz and glamour flag by going all-out with bright golds and silvers for a truly black-tie wedding extravaganza or she can choose to keep away from overt shine and consider more the whimisical brushed metal effects on the rose gold and copper palettes.
Whichever end of the metallic spectrum your personality or wedding inspiration falls our #InspoBoard on Pinterest is choc full of ideas!
I have to say I’ve loved researching this InspoBoard and it’s all down to my closet-clean-out.
